The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) held its annual National Not-For-Profit Industry Conference in Washington, D.C. from June 8 through June 10, 2011.
Anstiss & Co. sends multiple staff members to the AICPA Conference each year to stay abreast on the current and developing issues affecting our not-for-profit clients. Once again, the Anstiss & Co. team was among the largest representations of staff members from any firm in Massachusetts. Ray Anstiss, Jr. (Partner), Jayne Andrews (Director of Not-for-Profit Services Group) and Brendan Toolin (Director of Audit & Small Business Advisory Services) attended the three-day conference.
The three-day conference covers a variety of topics such as Single (A-133) Audits, Form 990 reporting, unrelated business income and changes to accounting standards. Conference speakers consist of industry leaders from public accounting, not-for-profit executives, IRS representatives, and other government officials.
Key topics this year included social media, enterprise risk management, not-for-profit governance best practices, and common Single (A-133) Audit findings. The knowledge gained at this conference allows Anstiss & Co. to stay up-to-date on the latest not-for-profit industry developments and advise our clients on changes to regulations and reporting requirements which may affect them in the near future.
