The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) held its annual National Not-For-Profit Industry Conference in Washington, D.C. from June 20 through June 22, 2012.
Anstiss & Co. sends members of the not-for-profit audit team to the AICPA Conference each year in order to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and issues affecting our not-for-profit clients. Anstiss & Co.’s group of 5 gave was the largest representation from any firm in Massachusetts. Ray Anstiss, Jr. (Partner), Jayne Andrews (Director of Not-for-Profit Services Group), Brendan Toolin (Director of Audit & Small Business Advisory Services), and Mary Linskey (Manager) were among those that attended the conference.
The three-day conference covers a variety of topics such as (A-133) Single Audits, Form 990 reporting, unrelated business income and changes to accounting standards. Conference speakers consist of industry leaders from public accounting, not-for-profit executives, IRS representatives, and other government officials who work with non-profit organizations on a daily basis.
Key topics this year included (A-133) Single Audit findings, fair value accounting, and updates on the lease accounting and revenue recognition projects. The information obtained at this conference allows Anstiss & Co. to stay current on the latest developments affecting the not-for-profit industry and advise our clients on changes to regulations and reporting requirements which may affect them in the near future.
